Valentangle

I love the name of this week's Diva Challenge...Valentangle.  The name speaks for itself and I created a Zentangle valentine for my dear partner.

Here it is again with some more shading.

This was the first one I completed which I think is a bit confusing but decided to include anyway.

Jailed Johnny

This week's Diva Challenge is to use the tangle called Jailed Johnny by Sadelle Wiltshire, CZT.  The step outs for this tangle are here.
I didn't think I was going to like this tangle but as I worked on it I realized the possibilities for bugs and butterflies and the organic possibilities became apparent as it progressed.  So...here is today's zentangle.

Henna Drum

Happy Summer!  It's been a long time between posts and a long time between zentangles.  The garden is finally giving me some breathing room and I can get back to the other things I love.  The Diva Challenge this week is to use the tangle Henna Drum.  My hands are a little wobbly after a long time not holding the pen.

Stars

Good morning dear friends...The sky is blue and the sun is just about to peak over the mountain.  It's supposed to be spring around here but the weather isn't cooperating.  The peas went into the garden 2 weeks ago and there is no sign of them popping out of the ground yet.  This day shows promise with not a cloud in sight and we're hoping for a warm sunny day.
The theme of the Diva challenge this week is stars.  Here is my first attempt combining stars and the tangle pattern mooka.

Too Square

A square within a square, within a square, within a square.....you get the idea!  The Diva Challenge this week was so much fun!!!

Tuxedo

The Diva challenge this week is to work with a tangle called Tuxedo.  This one was tricky to learn and took a bit of work.

Get Rid of the Box

This week I was walking in the forest with a sketchbook and came across a Piliated Woodpecker, sitting on the ground pecking at a tree.  It was kind enough to sit still for a few moments while I did a quick line drawing.  This is my first attempt at drawing a bird in nature and although it is not quite accurate, it doesn't matter.  As a beginner artist the act of practicing drawing every day is my goal, without judging too harshly the results.  A day later the Diva Challenge was posted and we were asked to do a zentangle thinking outside of the box with a quote by Deepak Chopra:  Instead of thinking outside the box, get rid of the box.  These are zentangled Piliated Woodpeckers:
