Henna Drum

Happy Summer!  It's been a long time between posts and a long time between zentangles.  The garden is finally giving me some breathing room and I can get back to the other things I love.  The Diva Challenge this week is to use the tangle Henna Drum.  My hands are a little wobbly after a long time not holding the pen.

Stars

Good morning dear friends...The sky is blue and the sun is just about to peak over the mountain.  It's supposed to be spring around here but the weather isn't cooperating.  The peas went into the garden 2 weeks ago and there is no sign of them popping out of the ground yet.  This day shows promise with not a cloud in sight and we're hoping for a warm sunny day.
The theme of the Diva challenge this week is stars.  Here is my first attempt combining stars and the tangle pattern mooka.

Tuxedo

The Diva challenge this week is to work with a tangle called Tuxedo.  This one was tricky to learn and took a bit of work.

Get Rid of the Box

This week I was walking in the forest with a sketchbook and came across a Piliated Woodpecker, sitting on the ground pecking at a tree.  It was kind enough to sit still for a few moments while I did a quick line drawing.  This is my first attempt at drawing a bird in nature and although it is not quite accurate, it doesn't matter.  As a beginner artist the act of practicing drawing every day is my goal, without judging too harshly the results.  A day later the Diva Challenge was posted and we were asked to do a zentangle thinking outside of the box with a quote by Deepak Chopra:  Instead of thinking outside the box, get rid of the box.  These are zentangled Piliated Woodpeckers:

Quandry

It is the second last week of February.  Anxious to be out in the garden, I spin and tangle, staying warm by the fire on this chilly, damp day.  The Diva challenge this week is to explore the use of a tangle called Quandry, little triangles of rice pellets, repeated over and over, magically forming flower shapes.  I  just learned that Laura's grandmother passed away today and the challenge has been cancelled.  I'm so sorry about your grandma Laura and thankful you were able to spend some time with her at the end.

Here is my Zentangle exploring the use of Quandry, in memory of Laura's grandma.

Year of the Water Snake

The Diva challenge this week was to draw a zentangle snake in celebration of The ChineseYear of the Water Snake which started on February 9. After drawing the diva dance water, I realized it was too busy and ended up shading it.  Snakes offer up all kinds of interesting possibilities!

Birthday Bookmark

This week's Diva Challenge is to use the tangle pattern DANSK, created by Margaret Bremner.  I've created a book mark for a special guy who will be celebrating his birthday soon.  I'm still working on getting the lettering right.
The Diva is giving away a Tangle A Day Calendar, courtesy of the amazing and wonderful Carole Ohl, CZT.  To enter, leave a comment on the Diva's blog saying you'd like a calendar!

The diva challenge this week is to create a post using a preset string.  This week also happens to be the birthday of a very special guy, my son 'M'.  Happy Birthday M, I wish we could celebrate together!  This tangle includes the tangle joy plus lots of love and birthday balloons. xoxox
