Stripes

The diva challenged us to do a tile using stripes.  I decided to work off a zigzag string.  We're in full on spring  and the garden is being planted this weekend.  I believe winter is finally over even tho the mountain tops are still snow covered.  Happy Spring everyone!

Frunky

This week's challenge is to use the tangle called Frunky by Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb.  Spring is cool and wet around here, a good time to stay inside and do art.  I enjoyed this one because it has movement.

Zingo

Zingo is a tangle created by Indy and Mazzy, two Grandaughters of Maria, one of the creator's of Zentangle.  These two girls are confident artists and patient teachers and I encourage you to watch them create their tangle at the Diva Challenge.  The Challenge this week is to use Zingo.  By chance, last night, I completed a border in my journal using Batumber and was waiting for inspiration for the center.  When I saw this morning's challenge, I knew Zingo would work.  I used pencil crayons for the colour.

Amphora

Challenge #306 is to use the tangle...Amphora by ZenLilyMoon.  I just love the name of the tangle and that of the artist!  So I mixed it with Rainking and used a tomboy marker for the shading.
Winter is still hanging on around here!  The wind is fierce, the temperatures cool and the snow hasn't melted so I
guess March is in like a lion.  However there is a glimmer of hope, the spring birds are all around...I hear geese down on the marsh.

Duotangle

Diva challenge #305...a duotangle using only two tangles...Molygon and Marasue.  It's still winter around here and I'm finding it a challenge to get up off the couch.  Happy to have these art projects to get me going.  Spring must be right around the corner!

Valentangle

Challenge #303 is to do a valentangle and give it to someone.  This isn't what I was planning.  After reading Rick and Maria's Zentangle newsletter, I decided to give Waybop a try and ended up making a valentangle mandala.  Hope you like it, my sweetheart did.

Hamadox

Diva Challenge #302...Hamadox.

This week we've had an unusual amount of snow, around 36" in just a few days.  As a result, we have been snowbound, unable to leave for days until we found help to dig ourselves out.

Serendipidy

Today is Matt's birthday and today's tile is for him.  I randomly chose Tangle-Pattern string #64 and it was the perfect choice for this week's Diva Challenge and for the birthday.  The challenge is to create a duo-tangle consisting of Paradox and Diva Dance.  Love and hugs Matt!!!

Three Hundred and Counting

I can hardly believe that the Diva has posted 300 Zentangle challenges, that's 300 weeks of drawing inspiration.  I want to say how helpful these posts have been.  Before starting Zentangle, I was a complete beginner at drawing and art in general.  I discovered the diva somewhere around the 50th challenge and have been tangling off and on since.  I've since started learning watercolour and sketching and feel much more confident as an artist thanks to Zentangle and the Diva challenges which have given me something to come back to each week.
The challenge this week is to raise awareness of Moebius Syndrome using the Moebius Foundation logo as a string.  The Diva's young son was born with the syndrome and she says that creating the challenges has kept her going thru difficult times.  Thank you Laura Harms for everything you have done for all of us!!!

Heartfelt

It's a rainy misty morning which may explain why I picked up a pink sharpie instead of a red one.  Oh well, it works.  The Diva Challenge this week is to draw a zentangle for Valentine's Day.  This is for my sweet one who has been there for me for a good long time...I love you!

I don't know why it scanned slightly crooked.

It is mid September and the garden is finally coming close to finishing for the season.  What a hectic season it has been with wildfire smoke keeping us indoors for much of August.  The plum harvest was huge which has attracted a steady stream of bears.  There is so much fruit in this region that we cannot give it away. It is time to get back to creative endeavors which do not involve the kitchen or canning jars.  Art seems to end up on the back burner during gardening season.
The Diva Challenge this week is simple...create a tile using stripes.  Here is my effort which ended up like a woven piece of cloth.

Have a lovely day!

Spiral designs are the subject of the Diva Challenge this week.  I used to fear spirals until I found a line drawing tutorial which showed some great spiral techniques by Simone Bischoff.  Here is the page.  I couldn't resist adding my new favorite tangle Narwal.

The Diva Challenge this week is to use a touch of green in honour of St. Patrick's Day.  The first two tiles I did this week didn't work out, too cluttered and just all wrong.  I didn't think I would complete anything in time.  Then while browsing the submissions for the week I discovered the tangle called Narwal on Margaret Bremner's site.  It was love at first sight and I had to try it.  This tangle is organic, quirky and fun and I thank you Margaret for bringing it to my attention.  The link for Narwal is here.

Hello everyone...I have been away from this blog for a long time.  What brings me back is a long lived case of the flu which has caused me to be housebound for ages.  I'm not sure why this has caused me to bring out the art supplies as I thoroughly enjoy all forms of artistic expression, maybe just too many other artistic interests going on right now.  Anyway, the Diva challenge this week is to create a duo-tangle using Pokeroot and cubine.  These are two of my favorites and it was so much fun to work with them together.

And now here is the coloured version.

The Diva challenge this week is to use a new tangle called Seton.  This is a grid pattern and the possibilities seem endless.  I decided to use the tile as one square of the grid.

Monday, October 27, 2014

The Diva Challenge this week is to create a monotangle using the tangle called Betweed.  This is a lovely pattern, simple yet effective and I enjoyed getting to know it again.

Earth Day

Here is another Earth Day tile...couldn't resist giving this another go round!

Today is Earth Day.  The Diva challenge this week is to honour the Earth by completing an Earth Day tile.  Here is my first effort.

Happy Earth Day to all of you!

Spring is here!!!  Every dry day is cause for hoeing and weeding.  The weeds are numerous but the chickens love them so I try to give them a pail every day.
The Diva Challenge this week is to use the tangle quandry.  This pattern seems floral and delicate so I thought it would make a nice background.  I used the method of making a triangle of  pods first.

St. Patricks Day

This week, the Diva has challenged us to do a tile in the St. Patrick's Day theme.  I started by doing a watercolour wash on some tiles, like Laura did and played around.  I found it somewhat difficult to use the Sakura pens on top of the watercolour and all of my pens went dry at once when almost finished.  I finished up with a sharpie.  That's ok, they've lasted a long time.  The pattern Lazy eights remind me of collecting 4 leaf clovers as a child.
